Horizon: Can We Make a Star on Earth?

Not exactly Linux but I spotted this, possibly a Sun Solaris workstation, that is used to control the Z-Machine, the worlds largest X-ray generator, at Sandia national Laboratories. Skip to about 36 minutes in to see them. It looks like it's running CDE or early Gnome. If anyone knows what machine this is please post in the comments.

Update:
Thanks to Lopta on Twitter and a bit of investigating, I've identified it as a HP 9000 Workstation running HP-UX.

UK readers can view the program here on BBC iPlayer:

"With access to the biggest fusion experiments on earth, Brian Cox tries to find out why scientists have been unable to get even a single watt of fusion electricity onto the grid. "

Ubuntu Spotted On Home Of The Future

In Home Of The Future on Channel 4, I spotted Ubuntu on one of the University of Oxford's automated vehicles, judging by the Gnome2 desktop, it looks like either 10.0.4 or 10.10, I'd lay money on it being 10.0.4 , it being the LTS. I think it was being ssh-ed into from the Macbook. For those who can access 4OD can watch the program here, and skip to 40 minutes in. Update: here's a YouTube link.
